Counseling Specialties & Expertise
"Once you start approaching your body with curiosity rather than with fear, everything shifts."
- Bessel A. van der Kolk
I am Certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) - 2 forms of therapy proven to be highly useful and effective when dealing with traumatic events and developmental wounds from childhood. I bring both into the room in conjunction with other somatic interventions, art therapy techniques, breath awareness and guided visualization to collaborate with clients around what feels right for them.
Common reasons that bring clients in:
feeling that years of therapy has done little to nothing for them
body discomfort unrelated to any medical conditions
single event or chronic trauma including sexual, physical or emotional abuse
struggles with anger, anxiety or depression
self harm and suicidal ideation
grief and loss
relationship difficulties
Payment & The No Surprises Act
The hourly fee for services is $170. For clients interested in using their insurance benefits, I can provide you with a monthly invoice (also called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance provider for full or partial reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company to check your coverage of mental health benefits.
For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or if you do not show up for your appointment, the charge is $170.
Per Congress’ new “No Surprises Act”, all clients have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much their medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items or services. The No Surprises Act states that patients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services such as the cost of medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. The No Surprises Act also states that patients can ask their provider for a Good Faith Estimate at any time before their scheduled service and they should be provided this at least one business day before the scheduled service. If patients receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate they received, they can dispute the bill. Patients are encouraged to save a copy of their Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information to your right for a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 720-504-5169.
Sliding Scale Options
It is so important that effective therapy be accessible to everyone. I work closely with the different Universities in Colorado to provide clinical internship opportunities to therapists in training at my group practice, Connections Counseling. All of the participants are supervised and trained by myself and the co-owner of the practice to provide effective care to all clients.
These clinicians accept Medicaid and also provide self pay services for $50/hour.
